If you ignore the low-light blur, this is what I'm aiming for my garden to look like. Sure, there's a hose out there, but it's a garden, right? It has the bordered beds, nice clear paths... I'm happy with how it looks, and it's easy to weed when you have a head start like this.

Most of the green you're seeing in these beds is milkweed, a plant which I am philosophically opposed to pulling. The theory is that if you have milkweed, monarch butterflies will come... though we've been having fewer every year. We saw one earlier, but I don't know whether there will be more. I hope so.
